- The Communication Design Engineering Conference (CDEC) is soliciting
- abstracts for the second annual CDEC Conference, October 29-31, 1996.
- CDECÆs high-caliber, in-depth technical conference focuses on the design
- methodologies for digital communications systems serving the information
- needs of engineers and managers who design and build wired and wireless
- communication systems.
- SESSION TYPES
- A combination of one- and two-hour workshops, as well as full-day
- tutorials, will explore a wide variety of topics. Time allotted for each
- session will depend on the subject matter and the needs of each speaker.
- Sessions begin at 8:30am and run until 5:00pm. Classes concentrate on the
- telecommunications and data communications sectors of the communications
- industry, with particular focus on areas where these technologies
- converge. The 1-hour and 2-hour classes should focus on specific
- equipment design issues such as:
- ò ASIC design
- ò Embedded communications
- software
- ò Digital modulation
- techniques
- ò Architectural considerations
- ò Standards and protocols
- ò Interfacing issues
- ò Hardware/software codesign
- ò Technology decisions
- ò Low power issues
- ò Processor and component implementations
- ò and other design methodologies......

- SELECTION CRITERIA
- CDEC presenters will be chosen primarily on the strength of their
- proposals and on their own qualifications. The CDEC technical program is
- not a forum for sales pitches. Proposals, which CDEC show management
- believes will be used to promote/sell products, will not be accepted, and
- speakers who deliver a commercialized session will not be invited to
- return to the CDEC technical program.
- The goal of the CDEC technical program is for each conference attendee to
- walk away with practical solutions and a better understanding of tools and
- techniques (s)he can implement immediately on the job.
- PAPERS AND COMPENSATION
- Speaker compensation comprises complimentary admission to the conference
- and events (an $800+ value). In addition, an honorarium of $250 per class
- will be given to speakers from non-exhibiting companies, with payment
- contingent on meeting the proceedings paper deadline and presentation of
- the class assigned. CDEC does not pay travel, hotel, or expenses for
- speakers.
- PROPOSAL FORMAT
- The proposal for lectures and workshops must contain the following
- information:
- òCourse title
- òSpeakerÆs name, affiliation, and a biography of NO MORE than 100 words.
- Include contact information (address, phone, fax, and email)
- òAbstract: A 150-word description that describes the class, the benefits
- to be gained by attending, and the prerequisite knowledge needed by the
- attendee.
- If you are interested in presenting a technical session at CDEC, please
- submit your proposed topic on the reverse side of this notice.

- All selected instructors are required to write an 10-15 page whitepaper
- for inclusion in the conference proceedingsùdue August 5, 1996
- Presentations demonstrating features of proprietary products are
- discouraged. All
- selected speakers MUST submit a paper for the conference
- proceedings.

- PROPOSED TITLE:
- ABSTRACT
- (Approximately 150 words outlining your proposed session. Each abstract
- should be suitable for publicationùits purpose is to sell attendees on
- your session. Accepted abstracts will be published in the conference
- catalog.)
- BIOGRAPHY
- Approximately 80 words on your professional background, education, or
- other information indicating your qualifications as a presenter of the
- proposed topic. Biographies of accepted speakers will be published in the
- conference catalog.
